Homemade Restaurant Style Queso Dip

Restaurant Style Queso DipIt’s always a special treat to get Queso Dip with my tortilla chips at a Mexican Restaurant.  I hate paying extra when we already get the salsa as a {free} dipping option. On “special occasions,” I give in and pay the extra couple bucks to enjoy some queso. (Bottom Line? I’m cheap.)

One day when the craving for this “treat” was especially great, I decided to try making this queso dip at home.  As it turns out, there are only 4 ingredients in this wonderfully delicious recipe!

American cheese, some milk, and a can of diced green chiles are all it takes!  With this recipe, you will no longer need to go to your local Mexican Restaurant to get your “special occasion” queso dip!

Easy Restaurant Style Queso Dip

  • Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1.25lbs block White American Cheese, cut into 1″ slices
  • ¼ cup diced green chiles (4oz can)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • ½ cup cold water

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in pot over medium heat.  Stir constantly so cheese does not stick to bottom of pan and burn.
  2. Remove from heat when cheese is melted.  The mixture will be very watery at first, but it will thicken once it is removed from the heat.
  3. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Refrigerate leftovers (if you don’t eat it all!).  If you need to reheat, reheat in the microwave at 20 second intervals, stirring in between until hot.
